About Me

I lived in Chiltern Gardens, until about 1964 then moved across the Toon for a while until moving South in 1973. I still support Gateshead, (the Heed!) and like to get up for a drink on the High Street a few times a year.  I remember walking 'doon the fields' and up the Teams to watch Gateshead at Redheugh Park when I was a kid, and catching frogs and newts in the ponds where the Metro Centre is now!

About Me

Lived in Alwinton Gardens from 1954 till 1967. Involved in Engineering Design all my working life. Carried on working after retirement date, but thinking of calling it a day this Autumn. Have a number old old British classic cars to restore.

About Me

Hello to you all - Hi George, nice site.  I remember many of the photos and some of the streets from the guest book.  I went to Lobley Hill junior school back in the mid 50's, then on to what I think used to be the army barracks on the other side!!!  They kept us there until Hill Head was built.  Ye can tell I didn't pass the damned 11+!!  I still look back on that - it was a farce for 11 year olds to go through, who at that time didn't care one way or the other.

I last lived in 5 Redwood Gardens and with my parents moved to Canada in early 66.  I used to hang out with some well none boy's - John Jobey, John Lazenby and David Dale. And I asked - Rose Jordan who lived next door; to go out in 63 but she turned me down;  Yes, we were Bad'ns.  I lived on both sides of the hill but mostly the good old Coach Road side.  You know some of the stories we can tell about the Tip, Beggars Wood, All Saints Church and then some.  Well, I'd love to read more stuff from this guest book - you never know, we may have crossed paths.

                                              All the best, Terry

About Me

I used to visit my Grandparents Rose And Albert Leadley, on Rothbury Gardens every weekend, and also my Dad Albert who lived on Hollywood Gardens from 1975 onwards.

I then moved to Cragside Gardens with my mam, and went to Hillhead Junior High and Saltwell Senior High.

Recently moved back to Lobley Hill, as the saying goes " there's no place like home " do have some very old pictures that my Dad had, and will upload them very soon.

Great site George, well done :)
