Born in Dixon Street, Teams, Gateshead in 1946.

Went to school at Lobley Hill Infant & Junior School,, from 1951 - 1957

Then Redheugh Boys, from 1957 - 1959 then Rose Street, from 1959 - 1960 then Hill Head from 1960 - 1961.

Worked in John Halls bakery Low Fell from 1961 - 1970, then Square Grip Ltd TVTE 1970 - 1993.
